Easy Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Easy Peppermint Hot Chocolate
I don’t know about you, but I am all about all things peppermint in the winter. I love seasonal foods and scents. If it’s October and there’s a food, body wash or drink that has “pumpkin” in the title, then I’m buying it. Pumpkin spice, pumpkin pie soap, whatever. When the weather turns cold, my tastes change. The winter arrives and so does my love of peppermint. I’ve been wanting peppermint hot chocolate, and I’ve seen people make it by crushing candy canes, but that just seemed like too much work to me. I know, I know, it’s not a TON of work, but I like simple. Really simple. Like 2 ingredient simple.
Enter my Easy Peppermint Hot Chocolate. This seriously cannot get any easier, and it is GOOD and pepperminty – perfect for a nice, hot drink on a cold night!
What you need:
Hot chocolate
Peppermint extract
Candy canes (optional) for garnish
What you do:
1. Make hot chocolate according to directions (we use our Keurig, so it’s just one push of a button!).
2. Add 1/8-1/4 peppermint extract. This stuff is really strong, so you don’t want to add too much. It would be really overpowering.
3. If you’re serving this for a party, garnish with a mini candy cane for a festive look!
That’s it! I told you – so seriously easy and SO good! It didn’t even take me 5 minutes to make it, and it was such a nice treat to enjoy.
Here’s a tip: check your grocery store’s clearance sections for peppermint extract. When I bought mine I paid full price. This week, I went to the store and found a bunch of bottles in the clearance section. Mine has an expiration date in 2015, so these will keep for a while – stock up now because you can use this extract in a bunch of other things, like peppermint frosting for cakes or cupcakes!
