With doing some car repairs the last few weeks I thought this would be a good subject to cover. When you have car repairs come up do you look around for auto parts coupons? I know some may say there is no way that you can save on auto repair other than looking for a cheap shop to do the work. Well you can! That is why I thought I would share a few ideas we use to help lower the cost of repairing and routine maintenance on your car.
Do Your Own Work:
If you are someone who is pretty handy with tools, you can save a ton just by doing your own work. My husband did not used to do a lot of our car repairs himself, but he has been watching online videos on how to do car, lawnmower and snowblower repairs. You would be surprised on how many how to videos there are on YouTube. I mean he has learned how to repair so many things on there. Because of that we have saved a lot just by doing a lot of the work ourselves.
Compare Auto Shops:
If it is just not Feasible for you to do the work, shop around. Most auto repair shops charge a base hourly rate, shop around and find one that is lower but still has a good reputation. One of the important things I ask when I am looking around is, can I bring my own parts? (I will explain in the next paragraph) You want to find a happy middle man someone who is cheaper but still is dependable and will do good work.
Pickup The Parts:
Just because you take your car to the lower price shop, does not mean the savings have to stop there. You can usually get a much cheaper deal on the part that you need by buying it your self. I have found that you can get great deals on auto parts online. You can ALWAYS find auto parts coupons. So buy the part yourself and take it to the auto shop. By doing this you will save a lot of money.
Shop For Parts Online:
Most of the time Advanced Auto has the best auto parts coupons but still be sure to compare prices with other places like Auto Zone. I mean just recently my husband was looking for a part for my car and we did find some auto parts coupons for Advanced Auto, however the part was already almost $50 cheaper at Auto Zone. This is just about the only way we buy our auto parts, as you just can’t beat the savings!
