Uses For Vinegar That You May Not Know About
Uses For Vinegar That You May Not Know About
Did you know there are so may more uses for vinegar other then just using it on your greens and salads? Vinegar is in almost every kitchen. It may be apple cider vinegar or distilled. But you may go about using vinegar without ever knowing all the many uses it has. I thought I would gather together a few uses for vinegar that are very helpful and you may not know about.
1.) Vinegar makes a great window/glass cleaner! You make a mix with it and put it in a spray bottle. Now you have a safe effective glass cleaner. If you want to make some for your self you can read about it in my DIY Glass Cleaner post.
2.) Need to remove some old wallpaper? Vinegar works great for that too! When we bought our house there was a lot of old wallpaper that needed to be taken down. There is a remover that you can buy but I did not want to pay the big bucks for it. Come to fined out vinegar works just as good! Just make small scratches on the paper with a knife, then using a spray bottle wet the paper down with a 3/4 vinegar and 1/4 water mixture. Allow to set for a few minutes and then start peeling it off. Spraying with more as it is needed.
3.) Use it to get rid of fruit flies. Did you have some spoiled veggies or fruit and now have been over taken by fruit flies? This happened to use when we came back from a vacation. I had forgot to throw out some over ripened fruit before we left and came home to lots of fruit flies. All you have to do is pour a little vinegar into a glass or jar (not plastic as the smell gets through the plastic and does not work as well). Then use the smallest funnel you have and place on top just as if you are poring something in. If you do not have a funnel you can make one from tin foil. They are attracted to the smell and will crawl into the funnel to the vinegar and then can not get back out. After they are in there simply swish around and then flush or throw out the liquid.
4.) Make your own fabric softener. No more paying lots of money to have your clothing soft. You can simply make your own! You just need vinegar, hair conditioner and water. Want to try it? You can follow the Fabric Softener DIY directions to get started.
These are just a few uses for vinegar. There are many more out there. Do you have a use for vinegar that you would like to share? Feel free to leave it in the comments below.
