Our lives are busy, each day we face new, time consuming challenges. Sometimes we don’t have enough time to eat. So we find ourselves, at the last minute, going to the fast food restaurants to grab a quick burger and fries. Whether we realize it or not, it can be pretty costly when you add up the price of meals like this on a monthly basis. But we all need to eat something right?
This series of recipes is entitled the “Nothing Special” recipes and food ideas. These will be usually something very simple. Mostly written for non-cooks who really are fed up with nothing else but fast food and the high price of eating out every day. Some may be what you already know, some may be just adding a few more ingredients to some already prepared food, fresh or frozen. Either way, I hope you will find something useful here so that you can make it yourself quick and eat at home for a change. With that said here is our first Nothing Special recipe for onion pepper steak subs.
Onion Pepper Steak Subs
Cook Time: 15 Min.
1 12 oz Package Sandwich Steaks
1 16 oz Bag Frozen Peppers and Onions (like for stir frying)
1 Bag of Frozen French fries (The Checkers Restaurant brand is worth the extra money)
1/2 Tsp. Garlic Powder
Sub Rolls or Hot dog buns
Add fries to cookie sheet and cook according to the manufacturers directions.
In a pan, break up the thin sheets of sandwich steaks. Then add frozen peppers and onions. It might need just 1/4 cup of water at the beginning while the natural juices come out of the steak. Sprinkle with garlic powder. In the meantime, the water will all evaporate, and the veggies and steak will cook good together. Total time is about 15 minutes on medium heat. Scoop out meat and pepper mixture onto a your favorite rolls or even a hot dog bun. Then top with a little mozzarella or even slices of cheese. Enjoy!
