DIY: Princess Bed
My daughter is BIG into princesses right now and, since we’re in the process of turning her nursery into a big girl room, we’ve discovered that she wants a princess room.
I bought a princes dress wall hanging from Hobby Lobby, but it just seemed so small on the wall above her bed that I knew I needed to add something else. I saw on another blog a few months ago a project involving hanging tulle, and I knew that was something we could do. However, I wanted it to be EASY (i.e. not involving attaching anything to the wall to run the tulle around).
I bought 8 yards of tulle. I know, I know, that sounds like a lot, but I wanted this to be fluffy and filled out. I actually took the 8 yards and doubled it up so I actually only hung a 4-yard length. It turned out MUCH better I think than if I hadn’t doubled it up.
So, how did we do it? It was simple – we folded the tulle in half, held the middle up to the top of the wall and attached it with a nail! Simple! And, since we had doubled it up, there was plenty to fluff out and hide the nail. Then, we attached it with nails on the side.
Here’s the final product:
I think it took my husband around 5 minutes to hang this. Seriously. How cute does it look?? My daughter LOVES it and constantly tells us, “I love my tulle!”
And, the best part – besides being super easy – is that it was CHEAP! I used a 40% off Hobby Lobby coupon (which the store puts out pretty much every week) and got the tulle for around $5! That is TOTALLY within my budget for redecorating my daughter’s room!
