As I was just reading a friends comment on Facebook, about airfare being so expensive, it dawned on me that this is a topic I should talk about. How to get good deals on cheap plane tickets. With the cost of so high to travel, it makes it very hard to go on vacations. So I wanted to give seven tips I use when I need to get cheap plane tickets.
1. Did you know that the price of plane tickets will be different depending on the day or time you look for them? If you search for a ticket on the weekend it will almost ALWAYS be higher. I have found the best time and day to do a cheap plane ticket search is Tuesdays or Wednesdays after midnight. It amazing sometimes how different the price for the same ticket can be, just by looking on a different day.
2. There are some sites that are cheaper than others. The best sites I have found (and use personally) for cheap plane tickets are listed below. Give them a try, I think you will find a great deal of savings just buy the site that you buy your tickets from.

3. When looking for cheap plane tickets think about the days you plan to fly. Just like when you search for a ticket, the days you fly will be higher on the weekends. If at all possible try to make your vacation so that you can fly some time in the middle of the week and you can sometimes save a few hundred dollars just by doing this.
4. Look for tickets for round trip AND one way. I have found a few times now it was cheaper for me to buy two one way tickets then to buy one roundtrip. So when you do your search look at both options and compare them.
5. If at all possible be flexible. One of the key tips to getting cheap plane tickets is to be flexible. When you do your search for your ticket select the dates flexible within like three days of the time you want to travel. Also select check surrounding airports. Some times driving say an hour longer to and airport to take off or land can save you some BIG money. Just remember not to go to far out-of-the-way. Yes it might be supper cheap but you do have to account for the extra gas it will take to drive that distance. It is kind of fine line as to what is worth it. By selecting these options when you do your search it will bring up the lower airfare prices. I have even found exactly the dates and airport I wanted but it showed up cheaper just by searching with the options.
6. Try to book in advance. If you know you will be taking a vacation that requires you to fly try to book them as soon as possible. You can usually get a better rate if you book more than a month prior to your flight. If you use a site like Priceline, they will guarantee their price. 7. Search for coupons! Yes that is right there are coupons for cheap plane tickets. If there is a coupon available for your flight you may also be able to stack it with a lower flight price. However this is not always possible. Some cheap plane tickets will not allow you to add a coupon code, buy hey it worth a shot!
